It’s great to see a resurgence in simulation centered around some more classic airliners and at FSExpo 2024 we saw developer Nimbus Simulation provide a bit of a teaser on their new Boeing 707 project. Lets look at that and some of the other things that this developer is up to for X-Plane 12.
707 in development

Back in late August, Nimbus Simulations offered an update on some of the things that they are working on. One of the highlights is their Boeing 707 project which was revealed during FSExpo 2024 in Las Vegas. The project aims to create a “robust and complete” simulation of the 707.
This project looks like one to watch if you like historical airliners. The images are still work in progress and the developers report that some visual artifacts (the buttons on the winscreen for example) are part of a dev build that will eventually be removed.
A Huey and more

The recent update also contains news on their upgrade project for the UH-1 Huey bringing it to X-Plane 12 standards is well under way. They are deep into development on and report that it is pretty much ready to release so it should be coming soon.
The team is also busy updating and introducing new scenery. KIAD Washington Dulles International Airport is due soon, KATL Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport is in testing, and KCLT Charlotte Douglas International Airport have all been updated (free for previous owners) and should come soon. The update in August seemed to mention imminent releases, however, it doesn’t look like those updates have been published just yet (someone correct me if I’m wrong) to the X-Plane.org Store.
They are also developing something called Pilot Challenge which will introduce mission capabilities to X-Plane with customizable interactions letting you develop your own missions and parameters as required.
