Microsoft Flight Simulator fans have another warbird to look forward to and its coming to us from FlyingIron Simulations. The company has previously released a Spitfire IX, Bf109G-6, F6F-5 Hellcat and P-38J Lightning for the sim and now is tackling another iconic aircraft. Let’s have a look!
A legend flies again
The FW190 is one of those legendary warbirds from World War II. When the radial engined fighter first appeared over the English channel it immediately became a high priority threat for the Royal Air Force and in the skies over the Eastern Front it was feared both as fighter and fighter-bomber. The small, well armed, and capable fighter carried on in combat in various guises from 1941 through to the end of the war.
FlyingIron Simulations is presenting an A-8 as their next warbird release. The A-8 is notable for its use across multiple fronts in 1944 and 1945 as well as being among the more popular variants flown during modern day airshows.
No official feature list has been released just yet but the type is likely to pick up a now standard set of features from FlyingIron Simulations including detailed visual presentation, custom Wwise soundscape, a custom coded flight model with detailed engine simulation, custom ground handling, and a tablet interface. These have been standard on other FlyingIron Simulations including their Spitfire IX that I re-reviewed recently.
The aircraft is set to release on October 10 so look for that to come to FlyingIron’s website. Pricing is also unannounced, however, its likely to be $45 AUD or approximately $30 USD.
