The latest version of Fenix Simulations A319/A320/A321ceo line of airliners for Microsoft Flight Simulator is now available and they come packaged with a long awaited upgrade for the airliners offering the Airbus winglet style known as the “sharklet.” This is more than just a visual update so let’s check into some of the details.

Sharklet update plus a lot more

Fenix Simulations are sticklers for detail and that’s one of the reasons why their A320 series of airliners is so highly regarded among simmers. This latest update continues to prove that true as the team have ensured that the upgrade to the sharklet style winglets is more than just a visual upgrade. The wingfence versus winglet aircraft will have a number of differences that include adjustments to the flight model, the fly-by-wire system, software, cockpit, internal equipment, and even to the lighting with the sharklet variant having updated LED lights.

The A321 version is also getting the Additional Center Tanks option for both the Sharklet and wing fence versions. The ACT takes up some of the cargo area of the A321 but offers extended range and some A321s with the ACT upgrade are used on intercontinental flights. A visual update to the aircraft adds this optional feature visually in the cargo hold.

The team have put together a collection of 106 sharklet-specific liveries.

Fenix did report too that while they did look into it, there’s not enough data on the sharklet options for the A319 yet. Some A319s do have the equipment but it sounds like the details on this rarer model is proving difficult to get. Fenix report that they are still going to work on it.

MSFS 2024 information

Fenix Simulations also took the opportunity to talk a bit about the elephant in the room regarding MSFS 2024 support.

One last thing we may as well talk about is Flight Simulator 2024. Unfortunately, we were not permitted access to the DevAlpha (though we did ask Microsoft), which means we still don’t have an answer for you on compatibility and timelines for adjusting to this new platform. Our intent will be to bring compatibility and stability first and foremost, then at a later time assess the new feature set and see what makes sense. Without seeing it with our own eyes, we cannot make any promises or commitments to timelines and processes, but on release of FS2024 we will begin our due diligence and report back with our thoughts and findings. Sorry this answer isn’t very meaty, but being so far removed from this new simulator means we’re still asking all the same questions you are.

It sounds like we’ll have to wait for a little while before the team gain access to MSFS 2024 and are able to look into what their plans for the new sim are. The Fenix A320 series have quite a bit running outside of the sim. How that affects their efforts will be a challenge.
