Due out soon, Baltic Dragon has released a video to introduce DCS World pilots to the upcoming Arctic Thunder Campaign. Let’s have a look at that video and what you need to know about the highly anticipated campaign.

Get yourself prepared

Arctic Thunder, the jointly developed campaign by Reflected Simulations (for DCS: F-16C) and Baltic Dragon (for DCS: F/A-18C) makes use of the DCS: Kola map for its high intensity modern air combat scenario. Set during a hypothetical battle with Russian forces in the Kola region, the campaign is setup similarly to Baltic Dragon’s recently released The Gamblers campaign. A bindable HOTAS control will let you contextually interact with the mission allowing you to make tactical decisions to reply to radio calls. You can also use the F10 radio control menu if you’d prefer – classic DCS style.

This video follows a similar one released a couple of months back by Reflected Simulations which also goes over some of the details of the mission, some of the procedures involved, and so forth. If you’re psyched for the campaigns… check both of these videos out!

  1. I’ve never bought a DCS campaign, but this one looks good. I like the planes and love the map.

Do DCS campaigns have a set difficulty or can you play from zero to hero?

Typically there isn’t much variation in difficulty within a specific campaign. These two makers are among the most detailed, authentic but also challenging of campaign makers. Worth it but I struggle to get through some of the depth.

    2. agree with Shamrock – not a lot of variation in difficulty unless the campaign is a training one e.g. Reflected Mig Killers is about taking a student through the Top Gun course so it naturally gets harder as you build your foundational skills.

They both make really detailed campaigns and if you love all the challenging details they are well worth checking out and makes for a change (if you are a MP or even SP short missions)

Canada One might want to give one of Sedlo’s free campaigns or missions a try. Similar style of highly detailed mission on offer.

    4. I found the DCS campaigns, especially the ones created by Baltic Dragon, not very difficult, but exhausting. The problem is the mission duration, reaching almost 2 hours in some cases.
