It’s Friday and that means another DCS World Weekend news update. This time around we have a few updates on a hot fix, a quick update on the DCS: C-130J project and there is a ghost in the machine this Halloween… for the F-4 Phantom. Let’s talk!
Hotfix
An important hotfix has been issued for DCS World earlier this week. The fix specifically targets some crashing issues with the Mi-24P and F-14. It also fixes an issue specific to the AN/ALQ-100/126 and ALR-45/50 on the F-14 when spawning on carrier.
Fixes have also been issued for DCS: F/A-18C & DCS: F-14 Iron Tide Campaign by Sandman Simulations with corrected wind direction, improved CAP and escort functions for AI during missions and proper runway usage at Ramat David airbase.
The hotfix changelog list is here!
C-130J goes to testing

Airplane Simulation Company is closing in on a release for DCS: C-130J and Eagle Dynamics reports that the project is now in the testing phase. The module has been added to the internal testing version and its undergoing integration testing.
The module itself is getting some core updates focused on systems surrounding it as well. The aircraft will be able to operate as a mobile FARP. You’ll be able to resupply aircraft at any location on the map using resources in the aircraft. Hopefully this is just the tip of the spear of what might be possible opening up simulation gameplay possibilities.
The GBU-43/B MOAB is currently also being worked on. Its drop animation, explosion effects and the yield of that explosive relative to items in the game world are reportedly under testing. This is a very large, 9-ton, conventional weapon and among the biggest in DCS World.
Eagle Dynamics have given a bit of a non-answer for the release timeline. It sounds like it’s close but they’ve also said they plan to share more details. So it may well be just around the corner… or not. More soon!

Ghost in the Phantom
If you’re flying in the DCS: F-4E Phantom this Halloween, you might get a slightly spooky experience. Users are reporting their lights are glitching out in patterns in the Phantom’s cockpit. No, its not something wrong with your aircraft but a little Easter Egg left by the developers for Halloween. Like most Halloween or April Fools related pranks, of which there have been many in DCS over the years, this effect will likely be gone by tomorrow.
