Yes, that’s right, its time for another news round-up. There’s been a ton of updates coming out from developers recently so here are some of the highlights you might want to know such as the status of SimWorks Studios PC-12 Legacy model, an update for the free E-Jets series from X-Craft, IndiaFoxtEcho MSFS Typhoon updates, a podcast appearance by Heatblur earlier in October talking about all of their products (including the DCS Typhoon), FSS AG’s 727 updates, a surprising new aircraft reveal from Octopus G, CowanSim S76 update, and even more from the likes of inBuilds, MicroProse, and A2A. Read on!

SimWorks

The latest release for SimWorks Studios PC-12 is on the way and is already out for SWS storefront owners while it is reportedly on the way to other storefronts and should arrive early next week.

The update includes interior updates for increased efficiency and support for 2024 passenger system. The aircraft’s flight model is once again in the spotlight with improved crosswind handling, ground effect and flap drag, and adjustments to both steering and the rudder system. Engine simulation is improved with reduced ITT at higher altitudes, improved ruder/aileron interconnect, new nose wheel steering logic, and some fixes to the air conditioning system too.

The company is celebrating the launch with a 20% sale.

Next up will be a native 2024 release as well as integration of the tablet and avionics updates.

Free E-Jets by X-Crafts Updated

X-Crafts maintains two E-Jets related product lines. Their version 2.0 is the flagship product while the original 1.0 version is now called the FREE E-JETS. The update takes it to version 3.1.0 with added support for the new X-Plane 12 beta weather radar. It also adds new map visuals, updated compatibility with the latest X-Plane version, and a few other minor tweaks.

IndiaFoxtEcho

The Microsoft Flight Simulator oriented IndiaFoxtEcho Eurofighter Typhoon project saw a status update just a couple of days ago. The team report that the external model is nearly complete, cockpit model is complete, flight model is in testing, avionics are in place (with mostly Tranche 1 features but a few unspecified Tranche 3 features), mission systems are in place and the sounds are being done by Echo 19.

The team hopes to be able to release it by the end of November.

IndiaFoxtEcho are also celebrating 10 years of commercial operations. Congratulations to them!

Heatblur

The folks behind Heatblur Simulations were recently on the High Alpha Hooligans Podcast talking primarily about their DCS efforts: the F-14, A-6, and their Eurofighter Typhoon.

FlightSim Studio AG

The Super 27, a modernized version of the 727, has been released mid October by FlightSim Studio AG. FSS have already released a series of updates for the aircraft fixing bugs and adding some keybinding support. Change log is here.

The team report that the newest version of the freighter and passenger variants have been submitted to the Marketplace and should appear for purchase soon. The Super variant is also on the way but it also needs a bit more time.

Octopus G

While the DCS: La-7 looks to be readying for takeoff, it appears that the developer has been busy doing a little side project. The screenshot shows a Yakovlev UT-1 (circa 1930).

No information is given, however, its easy to guess that its a MSFS oriented project. And it makes sense. MSFS is relatively easy to develop for compared to DCS World and the developer can be opened up to new revenue streams while working on longer term projects.

An Su-22 Fitter for DCS, shown years ago, may still be in the developer’s future though nothing is certain.

iniBuilds

The second significant update for iniBuilds A340 is now out. Systems, art, the EFB, sound and various bugs and fixes are all targeted as part of the update. Check out the change log for more.

The iniBuilds Storefront is also having their Halloween themed sale. The discounted pricing on a wide range of aircraft and scenery products currently remains in effect at time of writing. Check out the sales!

CowanSim

CowanSim S-76C++ has seen a significant update. The types of changes are wide ranging including systems, engine, and avionics simulation updates. Bugs have been sorted out. Check out the change log on the CowanSim Facebook.

A2A

Accu-Sim Aerostar 600 is now available on the MSFS 2024 Marketplace. The aircraft has been available for a couple of months now via the developers own storefront, however, it is now in the 2024 Marketplace and coming soon to the 2020 Marketplace as well.

Learn more about the aircraft on the developers website.

MicroProse

MicroProse have updated their B-17 Flying Fortress for Microsoft Flight Simulator, a product I had a journal on recently, with what they are calling their Seattle update (one of the places where the famous WWII era bomber was produced). Flight model updates, LOD changes, missing textures, and various other improvements are now in place.

The full change log is here.

  1. I kinda figured I wouldn’t buy any more FS2020 planes because I barely touch the sim anymore, but that Typhoon looks pretty tasty. I’m always on the lookout for the best touring plane. Something fast, cool, and akin to a personal spaceship. I’ve enjoyed the IFE F-35 for that purpose. That’s my way of seeing the world in FS2020.

Makes sense! What are you flying the most these days?

I should make a regular post from time to time and see what everyone is flying out of their virtual hangars. That might be fun!

      1. Flying DCS almost exclusively. I’ll hop into FS2020 occasionally and enjoy the scenery and my planes (MB-339, F-35, PMDG 737) and then remember how much I absolutely hate the controls setup/mapping, get totally frustrated with it, and then quit. And I’ve pretty much given up on IL2 because it has the world’s worst mission editor.

So it’s all DCS. Sweet controls setup, hi-tech planes (F-15E, F16, F18 and really enjoying the L-39), and I live in the mission editor. And when the C-130 comes out, that will be my baby for quite a while. 🙂

Any multiplayer servers you’re frequenting? I used to go on the Hoggit PVE servers all the time but they aren’t popular anymore so I’m on the hunt for the 2025 equivalent.

      3. I think the TTI and Flashpoint Levant PvE servers still see some action. For me, organized missions with a group are the best way to experience DCS. Stormbirds fly out anyone?

    2. FWIW, I’m not too much a fan of IFE’s flight models in MSFS.

so though I have most of their addons (339, T-45, F35, F14), I generally choose the TMS F-22 for high speed touring. Main reason is honestly because it has a frameless canopy similar to the F16, but also has a hidden G1000 for when you want to do a bit of formal navigation. and, y’know, Super Cruise and all that… 😉

I’ll probably pick up their new YF-23 on Black Friday, though more for the historical aspect, also a better cockpit (more like the F-15E). It does have a thick canopy bow, tho, so the Raptor will probably still be the touring choice.

also, the JF Hawk v2 has become a wonderful little touring aircraft in its own right (also with an optional GPS!). Probably one of the best flight models in MSFS, too (imho). Usually goes down to $30 during major holiday sales.
