We’ve got a new video from the 1C Game Studios folks busy producing Korea IL-2 series and IL-2 Great Battles. The video is a wrap-up of 2025 and everything that they’ve done with both sims but its also a bit of a tease of some things to come including the confirmation of new aircraft for Great Battles and a look at the status and plans for Korea. Let’s have a look.
Year in review
The first half of the video is a recap of everything that the team has gone through in the last year. Development of Korea features heavily with some of the gameplay demonstrations, the visual work, and features of the new sim highlighted again. None of this is new but its always useful to recap things that have come down the pipeline so far.
They also spend some time talking about Great Battles including both Flying Circus and Siege and Liberation. The series for example saw the release of the Zeppelin for Flying Circus and most but not all of the aircraft for Siege and Liberation.
Watch the video for the in-depth analysis where you can get a good sense of how things have gone during the year.
Looking ahead, we’ve learned some interesting items about Great Battles and about Korea so let’s talk about them both.
Great Battles
The six new aircraft have not been confirmed, however, they will come out following the conclusion of the work on Siege and Liberation. They have, however, confirmed that the aircraft will fit into previously released careers so expect a collection that fills gaps and enhances previously released content.
Two of the aircraft might be the recently revealed G.50 and B-239 that are being developed by third parties in association with the Finnish map team.
Siege and Liberation is expected to release by the end of winter though they expect to continue to add to that package post release. The maps will pick up additional seasons and career mode will add additional chapters.
Korea
For Korea and the new IL-2 series, the team reports that they expect to enter into closed beta testing early in the new year. After closed beta is complete, early access will begin. The DLC pack for Korea, featuring five not yet revealed airplanes, will be aiming for release by next winter.
We get a little bit of an inside track on the current state of the project. They report that nearly all of their aircraft are finished except for the F-84 and the La-11 which are currently being developed. Game modes and interface are also reportedly mostly ready.
2026 should be an interesting year for the series!
