DCS World got a patch update this past week which introduced a bunch of fixes into the mix. Let’s have a look at what Eagle Dynamics highlighted as part of that update. There’s also the Airplane Simulation Company’s DCS: C-130J getting in on the livery contest with prizes available for the top rated options.

Core and module updates

DCS World’s latest update (DCS 2.9.24.19998) has introduced the usual lengthy list of changes and updates to the product. One highlight is new bomblet fuzes settings for various cluster bombs. The AB250 and AB500 (used primarily on the FW190A-8) dispersion has been corrected as part of the update. Meanwhile, new fuze options have been added to the CBU-52, M117, SAB-100 and SAB-250.

The DCS: MiG-29, F/A-18C and AH-64D have all seen some work with the Apache’s George AI getting an update on a number of items while the MiG-29 gains new features and functionality for close combat mode including new symbology. The F/A-18 meanwhile gets some DTC related fixes and the CCIP and AUTO modes now operate with more accuracy than before.

The complete change log is here.

Livery contest underway

Eagle Dynamics and Airplane Simulation Company are hosting, together with WINCTRL (formerly WinWing depending where you are in the world), a livery contest for the DCS: C-130J Hercules.

The usual contest rules apply and you can use the official template to create your entry. Entries need to be submitted by April 6, 2026 before 23:59 GMT to be considered for the competition.

There was a bit of confusion in the comments over the rules and the “no political themes” rule which some were worried would make it impossible to offer realistic military themes, however, NineLine has clarified that standard country markings are not what they are talking about there. And infact the guidance suggests that they are looking for realistic schemes that fit the military nature of DCS World primarily.

  1. Oh, my – the F.U.D. In DCS never seems to abate!

I can’t imagine why anyone would “think” real/realistic liveries would be excluded!

Not to mention that the C-130 has so many operators over such a broad time span – the examples to re-create are nearly mind boggling.

Stuff comes up for sure! I’m glad that the question was answered quickly and then it makes it easy to report on.

C-130 is certainly a rich canvas to work with!
