The full release of the X-Plane 12.4 update is now out. The update started into public beta testing back at the end of December and is now ready for the stable release ring. Let’s have a look!

New features added, fixes implemented

X-Plane 12.4 is a modestly sized update packing a bunch of core technology updates, new scenery, aircraft updates and more.

Some of the highlights include multi-threaded scenery processing which should improve performance on some PCs. Your hardware setup will make a big difference in if you’ll get any improvement from this but for people with faster GPU and CPUs installed, this should boost performance significantly.

The sim now has native Tobii eyetracker support so the old plugin is no longer needed.

There’s a custom LEBB – Bilbao Airport scenery included as well. This iconic airport located in the north of Spain has some interesting mountainous scenery nearby and supports helicopters, GA, and airliners.

The update also packs in a bunch of smaller updates across multiple aircraft, graphics, ATC, SDK updates, crashes fixed and more.

  1. Looking forward to trying this out. Both the poor performance/eye candy ratio on high end hardware and janky Tobii support have been some of the bigger thorns for me lately.

    1. Have you tried a recent version of OpenTrack with Tobii? I’ve switched to mostly using that for all of my headtracking needs and it works great with Tobii.
