1C Game Studios has announced that they are expanding the Gulf of Finland map, included in IL-2 Sturmovik: Siege and Liberation, as well as adding details to the map to include the famous “road of life.” There’s also a significant sale underway right now so let’s have a look.
Siege and Liberation expands

The latest developer diary mixes history with developer update highlighting the “road of life,” a temporary route across ice that helped keep the city supplied while conventional land routes were besieged.
1CGS is adding the ice road, its various branches, as well as the facilities onshore that were used on either side of it. During the summer, with the ice melted, various watercraft were also used and reportedly we will be getting something to represent that as well.

Meanwhile, they also report refining the details of Leningrad adding more details and more unique points of interest like Mikhailovsky Castle.

The map itself is expanding from 270 x 230 km to 310 x 280 km adding additional terrain, 600 new settlements including areas in Estonia and the city of Kingisepp.

There will be ten new airfields and various other landmarks added as part of the process including additional lighthouses like Tolbukhin Lighthouse which was located west of Kronstadt.

It’s clear that work on the map continues and the career mode will eventually expand to include more chapters in the battle for this city as well.
