Typically associated with other developers as an X-Plane flight model specialist, X-Aerodynamics has come out with their own aircraft release for X-Plane 12 focused on replicating the Piper M500. Let’s have a look at this new release!

Piper M500 arrives

The PA-46-500TP or Piper M500 is a light utility, single-engine turboprop, in a similar class to aircraft like the TBM 900 series and a new rendition of this aircraft has just arrived onto the X-Plane 12 platform.

X-Aerodynamics have worked with other developers like Aerobask and X-Craft on previous projects and has built a small team to help develop the M500 into an X-Plane 12 release under their own brand.

The features of the project include a high end flight model which they say has a professional level of detail and accuracy. With a large array of previously well regarded projects this is no surprise as a first line item.

The aircraft also boasts a detailed 3D model with PBR textures, FMOD sounds, 2K texture option for lower-end users, an implementation of the G1000 (X-Plane’s X1000) as well as specific M500 systems and advanced autopilot modes. There’s persistence, maintenance and wear & tear system implemented as well as detailed electrical modeling, and custom EFB with AviTab, planning and aircraft configuration options.

The aircraft is priced at $45.90 USD and is available for X-Plane 12 on Windows, Linux and MacOS. You can buy it through the X-Plane.org Store.

I’m so glad to see this, esp since my beloved HotStart TBM remains unflyable in XP12!

Price seems a bit high, TBH, but I’ll definitely keep my eye out for reviews and see if the value matches up to it. 🙂

Love addons like this – so highly automated IRL that you can go from full cold n dark to wheels up in like 10 mins. The hardest part is entering the flight plan! 🙂

I was hoping HotStart’s TBM would be functioning under XP12 by now but no luck it seems. I’m not sure if this can match the fidelity but it does seem to be quite impressive in its own right. The pricing is premium though not unheard of for X-Plane add-ons.
