Microsoft Flight Simulator aircraft developer PMDG have released a new update for their DC-6 product that makes it compatible with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The update is a free one for current owners. Let’s have a look!

Bringing the Cloudmaster into the future

Originally released as PMDG’s first product for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, the new update for the product makes several changes that brings the airliner into better compatibility with the newer 2024 version of the sim. The update is, thankfully, a free one as announced by PMDG’s Robert S. Randazzo today.

The developer doesn’t have a changelog available from the website (that I can see), however, we know that there was work done to make the aircraft compatible with 2024. The featureset remains the same as before with no additions.

The aircraft does have an extensive tutorial series available here.

The PMDG DC-6 is priced at $59.99 USD with a single purchase providing access to both 2020 and 2024 simulators. The aircraft comes with both DC-6A and 6B variants with multiple configurable variations, liveries, as well as an automated flight engineer to assist with engine management. The level of assist can be dialed up or down as desired letting you manually handle the four radial engines yourself or let the AI fully manage it.

One response to “PMDG’s DC-6 is now fully compatible with MSFS 2024”

  1. This is one I bought right away for 2020 but never had time to really learn. Stuff from this era is great because it’s still complex in a fun way and fast enough to cover some ground, but still relatively low and slow enough to enjoy the view.

Now that it’s fully compatible I can put it back on my ever-growing to-do pile!
