We’ve got a new developer update from Majestic Software with a status report on their Q400 airliner that they have been putting together for several years now. The veteran developer has previously developed the Q400 for FSX and P3D and fans are hoping for a repeat with the current generation of MSFS products.

How are things looking?

Majestic Software’s Q400 has been in development for MSFS 2020 and 2024 for several years now with sporadic developer updates giving us a look at how the project is progressing. With the recent buzz around SimWorks Studios official announcement of a classic Dash 8s and rumours of a MilTech Simulations Dash 8, it seems like a good time as any for Majestic to provide an update.

There is progress. They say the Q400 is progressing well and that the exterior model rework continues with final corrections being conducted for the exterior model. Upgraded flight deck functionality is also progressing well.

Several screenshots show the latest work on the exterior which appears to be much more complete now than previously though, obviously, it currently lacks textures.

They’ve also released a video which shows off the systems for start-up now functioning in the sim. For a developer, this is obviously a great sign of things coming together and working. Some community members seem to have focused on the placeholder audio and cabin which wasn’t the focus of the video. If we focus in on the thing that was on offer, it does seem to show some realistic appearing systems and engine start conditions.

Majestic confirms that the Q300 is planned as a MSFS 2024 only follow-on to the Q400.

  1. Worthwhile addons like the Magestic Software Dash 8 series will take a lot time to come into fruition. I’m sure if they are taking their time, but are putting a lot of work into it in the meantime, this will be one heck of a turboprop to fly!
