Korea IL-2 Series full release tomorrow!

Korea. IL-2 Series, the next generation of the IL-2 Sturmovik series of combat flight sim titles, is slated for a full release starting tomorrow. We have the official launch times per time zone, Steam release is ready to go, and other details coming out ahead of the launch. Let’s have a look!

The global launch plans for IL-2 Series are coming into focus with the Korean War focused combat flight sim title launching tomorrow across the world. It will arrive at 09:00 PDT in Los Angeles’s time zone, 12:00 EDT in New York, 13:00 BRT in São Paulo, 17:00 BST in London and 18:00 CEST in Stockholm. On the other side of the world we have 20:00 GST in Dubai, 21:30 IST in New Delhi, 01:00 KST in Seoul and 02:00 AEST in Sydney.

As a reminder, IL-2 Series is launching with a Standard Edition and a Founder’s Edition. The standard edition includes 6 base aircraft (F-86A Sabre, MiG-15bis, F-51D Mustang, Yak-9P, F-80C Shooting Star, and IL-10) as well as 2 Collector Planes (F-84E and La-11). There are unique aerobatic team liveries for the MiG-15, F-86 and F-84 and unique Great Battles liveries unlocked for the La-5 and P-51D.

Founder’s Edition includes all of that plus 2 exclusive liveries (released later in the year) and the series first DLC pack which contains 5 yet to be revealed aircraft. On the unrevealed aircraft, we know that the F9F Panther and F4U-4 Corsair have been spotted in earlier materials and are likely to be part of this pack. An Essex class carrier has also been spotted in a developer screenshot so carrier naval operations is anticipated at this point.

Standard Edition is still up at $89.99 early access discount and that is expected to increase to $99.99 USD tomorrow. Similarly, Founder’s Edition is currently priced at $149.98 and will likely increase to $179.99 USD tomorrow.

The title is available from the IL-2 store right now or you can Wishlist it on Steam with purchase unlocking tomorrow. Its unclear right now if the early access discounts will be available on the Steam platform or not – I would assume not at this point.

So, look for all of that to happen tomorrow! A developer diary report is also expected tomorrow and we may start to learn more about what comes next for the sim.

    I hope they give some news on the development of IL-2 Great Battles sometime soon. Hopefully on Tuesday next week.

    With GB, the software seems to have reached a point where they could no longer make any significant changes. I’m happy to see how active the developers are to improve Korea and expect that they’ll keep developing the software quite a bit over the coming years.

    For example, we have the one developer who seems very eager to implement manual fuel management as an option, although right now he has to work on higher priority stuff first.

    Also in other ways, the developers are letting it shine through that they want to add a bunch of other new functionalities.

    On the more negative side, I am a bit worried about issues persisting from GB, like the tendency of the AI to run into each other, or the terrain. I do hope that they manage to make some significant improvements in the AI. Probably not to the point where they really fly like a real person, but at least don’t do those silly things.

    And with the many bugs that still exist and optimizations that are still needed, there is no way that those will be fixed by today. So I expect that the game will still suffer from some serious bugs and issues in the short term.
