It’s Friday and we’ve got a new DCS World Weekend news update. This week there’s focus on a new community developed Digital Kneeboard Simulator, details on eight new Currenthill assets that are being added to DCS World, and a development report from Grinnelli Designs on the DCS: F-100D Super Sabre. Plus there’s a contest incoming that can get you an exclusive copy of the module and its vinyl soundtrack. Let’s go!
F-100 updates

Grinnelli Designs successful launch of the DCS: F-100D doesn’t mean that they are done with the module. The latest status report indicates that they are currently working on bug fixes, refinements and optimization as well as implementing community requested features.
Some of those community features? A new special option for cockpit lighting brightness, a new clean canopy glass option for reduced wear and reflection, an AGM-45B Shrike to the available weapon list, wheel brake temperature adjustments to reduce overheat, and new keyboard throttle rate controls.
Also on the list of development items? Refined afterburner fuel consumption, improved thrust calculations, adding Zuni rockets (historically carried by the French Air Force F-100s), LAU-3 rocket launchers for the inner pylons, 3D model and level of detail improvements, and adding new control bindings. These plus other refinements are planned or in progress.
The team are also offering a limited edition run of 100 copies of the soundtrack on a 2-record vinyl with limited edition cover artwork. Meanwhile, 99 of 100 “Catfish” Collectors Edition bundles have sold but one has been retained for the F-100D Screenshot Contest. Grand Prize will win the “Catfish” Collectors Edition while the runners up will each receive the limited edition vinyl.
Currenthill Asset update

Another batch of assets has been added to DCS World by Currenthill. The assets include M1296 Dragoon IFV, BMP-3 IFV, BMP-3 ERA IFV, ZA-SpN Titan MRAP, SLT-50 Tractor and SLT-50 Trailer, HX77 Truck and HX81 Tractor. The new Tractor units are also able to hook and unhook trailers which means tank transporter operations will be part of missions.
Eagle Dynamics confirms these eight new units are free as with prior Currenthill Asset updates. They are expected in the next DCS World update.
Digital Kneeboard Simulator

A new community tool is being highlighted this week. Community member theonetruejason created this browser-based mission planner.
The system can load a complete mission plan (route, loadout, comms, threats, and targets) and can upload them into the DTC system.
It can also do debriefing using Tacview recording as well as SRS radio recording. All transcribed and searchable.
It sounds like an impressive utility and I’m keen to have a look at it at some point. If you have some person experience, do let us know in the comments!
