We’re ending the week with a few bits of good news on DCS World with a new autumn sale starting off with the usual discounts on offer as well as a look at the latest DCS World update plus AviaStorm have released a handful of new Tornado images so we’ll have a look at those too. Let’s go!

Sale time

Between now and October 12, Eagle Dynamics and various third parties are offering up to 50% off on various aircraft, asset and scenery packs. The sale will end on October 12th at 17:00 GMT or, if you’re on sale, the window is a bit smaller with prices returning to normal on October 8 at 17:00 GMT.

AviaStorm Tornado

Third party developer AviaStorm have been working on their DCS: Tornado for a few years now. The initial announcement occurred during a announcement-fest where several in-development projects were shared with the community. Since then we’ve seen sporadic updates on the project and the latest (released on Sept 29th) gives us some visual insights with the 3D model clearly coming together with strong textures and visuals.

We don’t have much in the way of new information but we at least can see what the latest status us.

Latest DCS World update

DCS 2.9.30.28536 is the latest version of the sim and with it we have a series of updates across multiple modules and asset packs.

Included in the update are two Matthew “Wags” Wagner tribute liveries by “IrishFatty” which are now included in the sim. The liveries have been given names based on a couple of slogans that have been used: DCS: “Forever Aloft” for the DCS: F-16C and “Legends Never Land” for the DCS: F/A-18C.

Other updates are extensive with new AI toggle features in the mission editor, adjustments to SAM sites, new abilities for delay fuzed bombs to shatter rather than explode on impact with hard objects, DTC updates, as well as changes across a huge range of modules. For example, DCS: MiG-29A has new Indian AF liveries and new instant action missions across multiple maps, while DCS: F-14B(U) has a new Jester submenu for air, power, and wheel chocks.

This week, for a community highlight, Eagle Dynamics are drawing attention to DDCS Overlord with its PvPvE campaign that features both human and AI forces on both sides. A companion app for phone, tablet and browser shows a live moving map of the war which is really interesting.
