We know Deck Ops, the DLC pack for Korea IL-2 Series, is coming sometime next year and so its only fitting that we start seeing developer blogs pointed at content that is coming soon to the sim. This week, we’ve got a focus on the F9F Panther. Let’s have a look!

The Panther takes shape

Grumman’s F9F-2 Panther is a little less known than the conflicts famous Sabre and MiG-15 duo but no less important. Used by US Navy and Marines squadrons, the Panther was used for ground attack though it did manage to notch-up several air to air kills including a few against the higher performing MiG-15.

The aircraft was carrier capable, had folding wings, possessed four 20mm cannons firing from the nose, could be fitted with various bombs as well as HVAR and ATAR rockets. The dev diary also notes that it was flown by later astronaut Neil Armstrong.

As a carrier capable jet fighter, it should be an interesting aircraft to fly. Future developer diaries are going to focus on instruments and systems of this jet, other aircraft included in the Deck Ops DLC, and we’ll learn more about carrier ops too.

Check out the dev diary here.

Beautyfull, yet inferior to the main antagonist. Rough days ahead.

Btw somewhere last week Combat Pilot patched, they too have a launcher now, before starting the game aaaaaaand the b17 is flyable ☝️ Should be worth a news i’d say. Some months ago they released the rufe, as well.
