World Update 23 has arrived for Microsoft Flight Simulator with all new points of interest, handcrafted airports, and updated imagery for four countries: Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland. Let’s have a look at the free update as well as the newly released Antonov An-28 Local Legend.

Poland and the Baltics

Eastern Europe is getting some attention thanks to World Update 23 focused on Poland and the Baltic states. The Microsoft Flight Simulator team reportedly partnered with Bing Places, Asobo, and Gaya to help bring the world update to life.

Featured in the update are 12 areas of interest, over 70 points of interest, 5 handcrafted airports, updated elevation data and imagery including TIN photogrammetry for the following cities and urban areas: Tallinn, Riga, Kaunas, Vilnius, Gdansk, Katowice, Krakow, Lodz, Poznan, Warsaw, and Wroclaw.

The handcrafted airports are the following:

  • Kärdla Airport (EEKA), Estonia
  • Jūrmala Airport (EVJA), Latvia
  • Palanga International Airport (EYPA), Lithuania
  • Warsaw-Babice Airport (EPBC), Poland
  • Opole-Kamień Śląski Airport (EPKN), Poland

For MSFS 2024 owners, the update has three discovery flights, four precision landing challenges, a special Sopot Landing Challenge (which involves landing a Red Bull Cub on a wooden pier in Sopot), a guided tour of Tatra National Park and a Rally Race. MSFS 2020 users get three discovery flights and four landing challenges but not the other challenges and activities.

Local Legend 26: Anotonov An-28 arrives

Created by AT Simulations (also responsible for the An-2), Local Legend 26: Antonov An-28, has also arrived with the update. This Ukrainian twin-turboprop STOL aircraft can carry up to 17 passengers, 4,000 pounds of cargo, and 191 airframes were produced up until 1993.

The aircraft appears to come with several skins and is available to purchase through the in-sim marketplace for $14.99 USD.

One response to “New World Update takes us to Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland, adds new An-28 legend”

  1. Had a brief flight between two of the small airports.

Everything looks very good! And the trailer really makes me want to explore the rest 🙂

And I can’t quite figure out why Inreally want the An-28 but have never touched the Cessna Courier…😁
