Watch DCS’s Hornet perform an aerobatic routine

Another video is out about the DCS: F/A-18C Hornet module and this time its one featuring the aerobatic capabilities of the Hornet. The video is a showcase of what the virtual Hornet looks like performing aerobatics.

A familiar aerobatic routine

The flight demonstration video showcases what, to me anyways, is a familiar flight demonstration for Hornets at airshows for at least the last decade or two. I’ve seen both US Navy and Royal Canadian Air Force CF-18s perform and they never cease to impress.

This video gives you that airshow perspective from the ground watching the jet perform turns, rolls, climbs, a dirty pass and just about everything else you might expect.

One thing to keep in mind while watching this video… That’s a real F/A-18 “soundtrack” behind the video. Those are not DCS sounds.

Watch that, go and watch any Hornet airshow video, and I think you’ll agree that it’s pretty convincing.

Although this is mostly for visual enjoyment, for Eagle Dynamics and Belsimtek, this is a verification that flight model work is progressing and yet another step along the way towards early access.

I don’t normally feel passion for jets and only have the early ones in my hangar, the Sabre and Fagot but this Hornet promises such a deep study sim envelope and it’s abilities in the arena of aerobatics pull me in.

Indeed! And it’s been fairly quiet from Heatblur recently. We know they are busy working on it and we know that their art team is going over absolutely everything but that’s about it.

I’m pretty excited for fans of navy fighters because we’ll have both the F-14 and F-18 being released “fairly close together” (by DCS terms) opening up some new gameplay.

Just got the Harrier out of shear impulse due to 3 hours of searching heat blur forums and getting way to exited for any American naval Fighters/Attackers (Hornet aside)

How do you like it? I’m regretting my Viggen purchase and should have waited for the Harrier.

        Hornet I’m pre-ordered for so that’s editing.
