Deeper partnership between Belsimtek and Eagle Dynamics

DCS World Weekend News may have passed people by this week as everyone is probably busy being face down in the cockpit of the DCS: F/A-18C Hornet module that was released this week into early access. But if you do manage to pry yourself away from the Hornet for a few minutes, there’s a small piece of interesting news that you may want to check out.

The Hornet first

Before I get to the interesting bit, I do want to acknowledge that Eagle Dynamics was no doubt celebrating a successful launch. The Hornet may not have all of its features but its been relatively bug free although there are certainly a few here and there.

Still, its a worthy accomplishment and Eagle Dynamics calculated that it was approximately 40-man years worth of research and development on this module to make it happen. This also wouldn’t have happened without the support of third party developer Belsimtek who played a part in the coding and development for the Hornet.

In-case you missed it, here’s the launch trailer which is worth a watch again.

A deeper partnership between ED and Belsimtek?

Belsimtek has been a major contributor to DCS World with the MiG-15bis, F-86F Sabre, UH-1H Huey, Mi-8MTV2, and the F-5E Tiger II all being developed by this developer. Months or more ago we learned that Belsimtek had been brought in to help with the F/A-18C module development and now it appears that the partnership with Eagle Dynamics is going to deepen.

“We’ve been silent for a while and want to announce a new exciting change. Eagle Dynamics has been working hand in hand with Belsimtek for many years and together we have succeeded in creating some well-known products in the flight simulation community that we hope you enjoy. With the intent of further developing this success we have decided to align and strengthen our brand image under one banner, Eagle Dynamics. The team will remain unchanged and under the same leadership we are confident of delivering great new products to you. With the F-16C block 50, Mi-24P, AH-1S Huey Cobra and F-4E in the development pipeline, the future is very exciting. Together we look forward to taking Eagle Dynamics to the next level. Thank you.”
The Belsimtek Team

So it appears that Belsimtek will be no-more and will be wrapped up into the Eagle Dynamics team. This is hopefully a best of both worlds scenario where they are able to turn out more high quality modules like the Hornet at a more rapid pace.

And, just in-case you missed it, we now have an even better roadmap forward for modules from Eagle Dynamics/Belsimtek including the F-16C Block 50, Mi-24P, AH-1S Huey Cobra, and F-4E Phantom.

So, there you have it!

That makes sense, probably the only 3rd-party that has the same quality level than ED, which may also seem as unreachable in terms of support due to the language barrier. Their helicopters are second to none in this small world of ours.

Being one will surely help with the future modules, really looking forward to more from them!
