Virtual Festival of Aerobatic Teams (VFAT) had their final performances on Sunday and a real standout was Heatblur’s DCS: F-14B Tomcat demonstration showing off what the F-14B in DCS World can do. It’s an impressive display and a great demo of what should be forthcoming in a matter of weeks.
Tomcat on display
Feeling like you’re watching an actual airshow, this beautiful demonstration of the F-14B showcases the sights and sounds of the DCS: F-14B and it is extremely well done. Demonstrating the jet just as it was in the 1980s and 1990s at airshows, the performance showcases the jet’s high speed, climb rate, slow speed, as well as a variety of maneuvers and its all set to the 1980s inspired music album for the Tomcat created by Meteor.
When already?
There are no new rumours but an old one keeps circulating with many speculating that the release date is December 21st – the date in 1970 when the Tomcat first flew. Although I’m highly skeptical that it will release into early access at that point, I am confident that we are less than two months away from release and we may even be counting the weeks at this point too.
Heatblur’s demonstration today shows off that the F-14s flight model, external model, sound, and other systems are all working as intended although I noticed on the landing and taxiing that the wings were flapping in an unusual way which probably means that there are still bugs to squash.
