Meteor asks us if “we feel the need”? DCS: F-14 release imminent?

Since at least 2017 we’ve been waiting on Heatblur to release their DCS: F-14 module. Long in development and looking every bit the part, the DCS: F-14 is now apparently nearing launch and the latest indication is from the folks who did the music for the modules sound track. What? Yep!

Meteor teases release

In-case you didn’t know, the DCS: F-14 will be releasing with its very own album titled “Defender of the Fleet” from Meteor. Meteor, has multiple album releases on your music platform of choice, and has a 80s feel to all of their music. With Defender of the Fleet, we get a sound that is equal parts unique and heavily inspired by the musical backdrop of the movie Top Gun.

Cutting to the chase

Just a couple of hours ago, Meteor posted the following on their Facebook page that gives us new insights into the release date of this long awaited module:

Though this still doesn’t give us a firm date, counting the days is far shorter than counting the weeks and that may mean a release of both DCS: F-14 and the new album soundtrack from Meteor before the end of this month… or maybe even the end of this week?

We’re ready, we feel the need, let’s do this!

Update February 18, 2019 at 10:26 PM: This update from Cobra helps define what they mean by “days”:

In all seriousness, it’s now a maximum of 29 days away. We’re close.

Try not to rip us apart until it’s

– March 21st and it sucks

or

– March 21st and no Tomcat.

I’m not sure if I’m going to be disappointed or delighted if the Tomcat comes out before the MiG-19. Either way, they are both on my list of must haves. I like the Mirage, and look forward to learning to fly the Hornet and the Harrier effectively someday, but, It’s these old-school stick and rudder and steam gauge aircraft that have my heart.

  I know what you mean. At this point I’m not sure which of the two is destined to come out first. Technically Heatblur is a couple of year’s behind on the F-14 while RAZBAM is just a month out of their targeted release window. My sincere hope is that both modules will get a chance to shine and that they are the best they can be at launch – though post launch support is definitely welcomed.

i think the F-14 may just beat the Mig-19 but that is because as shamrock says that the F-14 has been in production longer and they are just finishing minor details… while razbam noted some small flight model issues if i remember correctly

  Source for? If referring to boxcarleaders comment, both ED and RAZBAM have mentioned the need for some flight model tweaks. What those are and how minor they may be are unknown.
  
  I suspect they are taking advantage of the delay to implement the improved cockpit textures and tidy up some other items.
