It’s almost unbelievable to me that I started the Stormbirds blog three years ago today. The goal was a simple blog that let me write a little about one of my favourite hobbies and share some of the latest flight sim news with a few readers. Stormbirds has grown quite a bit since then and I hope to keep bringing you more of the same in this third year of operations.
A few highlights
I’ve written quite a few articles over the last year but there are definitely some highlights. The IL-2: Battle of Kuban In-Depth Review was one that I’m proud of and a highlight not just for the blog but a key moment in the ongoing development of the IL-2 series. Switching to DCS World, one of my favourite key moments was a very short article about the release of the DCS: F/A-18C Hornet and my first hour of flying the jet.
This year I also launched the Community Q&A series with my first ever Community Q&A focused on Zelly from Hoggit telling us a little bit about the Georgia-at-War server. Most recently I’ve also had a three part series (one, two, three) with Jason Williams and Daniel Tuseev from 1C Game Studios on all things IL-2: Great Battles. Doing these Q&A sessions takes a lot more time than the usual article but I’m grateful to everyone who has participated and I can assure everyone that I’ve got more of these planned for the future.
Coming up next
I’m planning some different types of content over the year. I’d like to talk a little more about hardware this year and I’ve been busy planning out some upgrades to my flight sim peripherals and pieces of hardware that are, potentially essential parts of the flight simulator experience from the basic to going for all of the bells and whistles.
I’m also hoping to have some new Q&A series to share with everyone and I’ve even considered hosting a live stream from time to time on special occasions. Also look for more video content as I’d like to create some more on that front. Stay tuned!
