The old Air Racing server on Hyperlobby back in the heydays of the original IL-2 were some of the most fun and tense flying I ever experienced. We haven’t seen a sustained air racing experience in the newest IL-2 series, however, that is all about to change as Combat Box introduces ‘Project R.’
High octane and high fun!
The ‘Project R’ announcement trailer is the perfect dash of air racing and hilarious fun as the trailer takes us through a challenging course weaving its way up rivers, across mountains, and down the black sea coast on the Kuban map. Sprinkle in some flak batteries and obstacles and you’ve got one heck of a fun looking challenge. Check out the trailer and see for yourself!

To kick it off we have prepared four tracks on the Kuban map using towers with colored smoke as gates. The tracks will vary in length and agility, and some have straight segments with flak shooting at you. We plan to host many different performance classes from Ishaks to jets. Upon launch we will provide a collection of racing skins. Feel free to make your own & add to the collection! Project R will launch during the Sturmovikfest. Kick the tires, light the fires, LET’S GO!
