The sky is calling and in this time of isolation one of the best ways to get out there is pick up some cool new flight sim software or hardware. And what better way to get into something new or add to your collection than by taking advantage of the deals out there. Let’s have a look at just some of the things that are on sale right now.
DCS and IL-2 are both offering big discounts
If it’s combat flight sims you’re into, DCS and IL-2 are offering some fantastic deals right now which helps keeps those costs low and ups your dollar to hour entertainment value.
DCS World is offering up to 50% off on most of their modules while some key modules still in development such as the DCS: F/A-18C and F-16C are on for 30% off. Though individual DCS modules are are expensive, sale prices help make them more accessible, and they usually offer a ton of bang for the buck if you take full advantage of everything on offer. The sale lasts until 15:00GMT on the 7 December 2020.
Meanwhile, IL-2 has a absolutely massive sale on right now. Their autumn sale is offering 85% off on the original (and still very much upgraded) IL-2: Battle of Stalingrad. If you haven’t tried this series yet, you can pick up Battle of Stalingrad for just $7.49 USD. Read my full review of Battle of Bodenplatte for my most recent take on the series. Also on sale is Flying Circus Vol 1 which brings World War I combat to the sim and its on sale now for 66% off making that the best deal we’ve seen on that expansion so far. The sale ends10:00am PST December 1st
X-Plane is 42% off right now
Participating in the Steam sale this Black Friday, X-Plane only rarely goes on sale but in this case it’s available for a very reasonable 42% off the regular price. For my Canadian Steam store, that brings the sim down to $42.33 CDN from regular $72.99 CDN.
X-Plane.org sales too
Of course other stores that offer content are also offering sales and X-Plane.org is no different in that respect. This community hub and store is home to a great many free and paid X-Plane 11 content. There are over 700 specials (or sales) listed on the site so check those X-Plane.org deals out right here.
The sale ends Monday November 30th.
Orbx sales offering up to 50% off
Scenery developer storefront OrbxDirect is offering some deals as well with up to 50% off many of their scenery products. Orbx has products for Microsoft Flight Simulator, Prepa3rd, X-Plane, and the now venerable FSX.
For X-Plane 11 pilots, their TrueEarth series offer an easy way to get some of the most beautiful satelite imagery, autogen buildings and hand crafted points of interest in that sim. Check out my review of TrueEarth Washington here for an example.
Visit the Orbx store here. The sale ends December 1st.
MFG Crosswind sale
Also happening this weekend is the MFG Crosswind sale. This rare, once a year (in my experience), event see’s the popular MFG Crosswind rudder pedals drop their price by a 8% while the MFG warthog extensions drop their price by 15%. It’s rare for hardware makers to drop prices but this is something that MFG has done over the last few years.
The MFG Black Friday announcement is here and the sale lasts until Monday.
