A nice surprise to carry us in 2021 is here thanks to 1CGS and patch 4.505 for IL-2 Great Battles with several fixes, 4K textures for the I-16 Type 24 and one more thing. We now have 4K textures for all aircraft!

High resolution quality textures all around

This patch brings with it a big improvement. 4K textures for all aircraft in the sim! This is all thanks to community contributor Chiawei =Oyster_KAI= Liang who has had 4K cockpit textures available as a mod for a few months now. According to the update, the texture work here has been improved further over the earlier efforts and it is those updated versions that are now default as part of the sim (if you have 4K textures checked off). Check out these two screenshots, of the P-51D and Fw190, to see what they look like in action.

Martin = ICDP = Сatney’s efforts to upgrade all of the aircraft in the sim up to 4K level is also on-going and this patch brings with it the I-16 which comes with a new silver skin in addition to the upgrades of all of the others. Beautiful!

The new patch also comes with dozens of smaller fixes and additions including new effects for railway tanker car explosions, airfield fuel tank explosions, crew updates for the A-20B (including US and British crew), and several fixes to the free T-34 STZ 1942 and Pz.Kpfw.III Ausf. L which should make them more compatible with the rest of the tanks in Tank Crew. Some of those updates include ensuring that these tanks don’t fire when they are destroyed, fire and smoke effects when damaged and destroyed, crew bailouts, and visible commanders who will also have pistols and binoculars.
