News round-up for April 24: from F-15E, to Cypus and CRJ 900

Time for another news round-up from around the flight sim community. There’s a lot going on these days so check out some of these news items that popped up during the week.

Aeroplane Heaven Spitfire

Another Spitfire is coming to MSFS and this time its from Aeroplane Heaven. A veteran FSX developer, their work on the Spitfire Mark I. Their latest development update indicates that they are “on final” with this new aircraft and are working on things like sound effects, tweaks to the flight model, and their own custom coding for items such as castoring tailwheels (which is not something MSFS supports out of the box right now).

Check out these screenshots and then see the rest at the Aeroplane Heaven Facebook page.

RAZBAM Fagnano Lake and F-15E

Fagnano Lake is located near the southern tip of South America. It’s part of the first flight on a MSFS bush flight tour and it’s now also making its way into DCS World. RAZBAM this week showed off their efforts to bring the DCS: South Atlantic map to life and, as previous updates revealed, this map is now covering most of the southern tip of South America enabling the map to cover a wide variety of potential scenarios.

RAZBAM also showed off some work on the F-15 this week. First, we got a good look at the new exterior model for the F-15E. It’s already much more detailed than the default AI F-15E in DCS World and I’m sure there’s still some work to do before this becomes a full fledged model. We also got a good look at the cockpit which appears to have some sort of HUD functionality now and is fully in the engine.

I suspect this one still has a ways to go but it is encouraging news for those eager to fly the Strike Eagle. Check out more at RAZBAM’s Facebook.

DCS: Syria Cyprus update

Ugra Media announced months ago that the DCS: Syria map would be expanding westwards with the inclusion of Cyprus. We’ve seen a few screenshots teased here and there but now we’re getting the best look at this yet with a video and several more screenshots. Screenshots are available here and you can watch the video below.

CRJ 900/1000

Fresh screenshots from Aerosoft are out on their CRJ 900/1000 model for Microsoft Flight Simulator. This regional jet is regarded as one of the most in-depth models released for the sim yet and this addition to the type adds the lengthened 900/1000 series with unique modeling and details to represent this slightly different type.

Check out these screenshots and then see the latest on the Aerosoft forums.

Other updates

If that all wasn’t enough, here are some other updates that you may have missed.

If I missed something, let me know in the comments!

Very cool to see the T-45 in DCS. I’m thinking between this and the MSFS 2020 version we can do a lot of USN training.

I wasn’t looking forward to the Falklands map at first, but as they are now reaching across into Argentina, it looks like it could be an excellent map indeed. And the F-15E looks tasty!

Hope the wait isn’t too long.

I loved Jane’s F15 back in the day. Can’t wait to relive it in DCS, I think I even still remember where all the buttons are…

The T-45 is really nice! This is the first DCS mod I’ve installed…getting the feeling it could be a slippery slope 🧐
