The latest DCS World Weekend News update is giving us some new insights into the team’s work on the DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark 3 project as well as some unexpected updates to DCS: Normandy from Ugra Media. Let’s check it out!
Black Shark 3 updates
Eagle Dynamics is working on a re-release of their DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark module and the latest development screenshots show the new levels of detail in and around the type’s engine and rotors.
The artists have apparently been working from real world drawings to bring this to life and the update notes that these details will be on display with the helicopter’s damaged state as well as when various maintenance hatches are open. An interesting detail.
I’ve only recently started flying the DCS: Ka-50 and I’m very excited that new life is being added to this helicopter. An upgrade to this new version of the Black Shark should be great for many helicopter fans.
Unexpected Normandy update
Ugra Media have only just put the finishing touches on their excellent DCS: Syria map and it seems that they are working now on their first map once again. DCS: Normandy has had a rough ride in its early days with its existence tied to an alpha version of DCS World 2.2. It’s progressed significantly since then and now we have new information that the map is receiving further updates.
Airfield textures have also been improved and multiple bugs at Evreux, Funtington, Maupertus, Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer and St. Pierre du Mont airfields have been fixed. Taxiway issues at Azeville, Barville, Evreux and Lantheuil have also been resolved.
Performance improvements when flying low over dense forest areas are noticeable. Individual tree types including; Amur Oak, Black Ash, Pine, Riverbirch and Sugar Maple are now more distinguishable and lifelike.DCS World Weekend News
This is great news. DCS: Syria is a breathtaking map and any improvements that Ugra Media can take from that map, especially around performance, I’m sure will be appreciated by the DCS WWII fans out there.
