Matt Wagner from Eagle Dynamics has posted a new sneak peek of the DCS: AH-64D Apache coming to DCS World. The new sneak peek shows off the laser Hellfire in action while also revealing news that this is the final teaser before full lessons start coming out.

Laser Hellfire

Able to function without the AH-64D’s fire control radar, most versions of the AGM-114 Hellfire are guided by laser designator including the one on display in this latest video. The video shows several systems in operation while showing the missile tracking and destroying a tank.

The radar guided version will come later as as the fire control radar and fire and forget versions of the Hellfire are introduced.

Matt reports at the end of the video that this will be the last of the previews and that the next video will mark the start the full length tutorials. I’m excited!

  1. I bought the Hind, but still much prefer the Ka-50. And though I would rather have the BS3 than the Apache, the AH-64 will be very hard to pass up. All these new benchmarks in flightsim goodness just can’t be missed.

All of these options will hopefully be on the table by end of the year. It kind of looks that way!

  2. Seems like we’re going to get the Apache before the end of this year.

    Well, I’m ready, babe! 😎

I suspect so too! Tutorials usually mean release is just weeks away.

Yeah that’s dating yourself there 😉

We are definitely picking up where several AH-64 simulators left off. The Janes series Apache Longbow is another that people are probably going to compare this to as a kind of spiritual successor!

As much as I yearn to buy this, I must say the fact that critical sustems not available in pre-release make me hold short.

Which critical systems are you hoping to see before trying it out?

So it may be a good idea to wait for the end of early access. I’m guessing some of those systems like the FCR will take some time to implement.

my point exactly why fund a half finished project, invest time in a half finished project and when it becomes ready I get bored with it?

Well that’s a decision everyone has to make for themselves. I enjoyed the early access period on the Hornet and learning it’s capabilities as it grew. It’s still the aircraft I fly the most regularly. But that’s just me.

I like to present as much information as I can. Everyone makes that decision for themselves.
