New DCS World mission editor ‘draw tool’

Put this one in the quality of life category as Eagle Dynamics unveiled a very cool new feature for the DCS World mission editor – the ability to draw things! Yep. It may not sound cool but this is going to be a potentially very useful feature.

From tank formations to frontlines and more

A new video from Matt Wagner diverges from his usual format and tackles a whole new Mission Editor feature that will let you place various marks, arrows, icons, and labels right onto the F10 key map.

DCS World’s closest combat flight sim competitor, the IL-2 series, has had tools that have enabled mission editors to place down key marks onto the map including frontlines, labels for target zones, and other helpful indicators. Now DCS mission makers will be able to do the same.

Check out the video to see how it all works. Look for this update to come in the near future!

No, never. I assume it enables similar functionality?

BMS is like driving a 23 year old Mercedes that’s been lovingly maintained – and had a few AMG upgrades along the way.

For $5, it’s a fantastic experience – if your priority is completely restricted to ONLY a very well simulated F-16C and truly large scale modern air combat – at the expense of every other nicety of modern flight simulation.

I just can’t box myself into such a severely limited game when there are so many more flight experiences available than just an F-16.

I like that. I spend a lot of time in the DCS ME and this looks like good fun.

Can’t wait to have a red text box with “Oh Sh*t!” over a big SAM site.

I frequently make my own missions and I am looking forward to this feature probably more than I should. I’m sure it will be a great boon to have a rough idea of the ground environment when doing CAS with the Hog for example.

Yeah absolutely. Having these marks will be massively useful for folks flying CAS missions. Mission designers will be able to give that much more information!
