This week we’ve been treated with some great new images of the Flying Circus Vol 2 Gotha G.V bomber along with some news and updates on Battle of Normandy, Flying Circus, and even some new airfield textures for Normandy that look pretty good. Let’s have a look at the latest update!

The G.V on its way

I’m pretty excited to see both the Gotha G.V and the Handley Page 0-400 bombers come to Flying Circus. With their large size, multiple gunners, and imposing silhouettes, these classic WWI bombers should be fun to fly while also potentially changing up the multiplayer flying experience as teams fight to defend or attack these lumbering giants.

The Gotha G.V is the furthest along and these beautiful screenshots show its status clearly.

Also in the pipeline are the Handley Page 0-400 (a very similar aircraft to the G.V) and the Sopwith Triplane.

Normandy and Flying Circus updates

The update also reports that Battle of Normandy and Flying Circus Vol 2 are making good progress. Big items on the list that are coming soon include the Normandy map, the Western Front Map for WWI, the remaining aircraft including the types mentioned above plus the Ar234, Me410, Mosquito and B-26 AI.

Other core updates are also underway. Here’s some key takeaways:

• The fuel systems modeling is underway and apparently is coming to the beta soon with the Bf109 as the testbed before moving to other airplanes.
• Flight models are being looked at with special mention made of propeller modeling and some old bugs.
• Research is underway to further improve the sky.
• Tactical codes and dynamic visual damage updates are underway for other aircraft.

Also released today are some new images. Starting with the British C9/B with 40mm Bofors anti-aircraft gun mounted to it. It’s prat of the Battle of Normandy’s vehicle set.

New runway textures for Normandy airfields were mentioned today. This is a theatre that saw widepread use of temporary fields especially by the Allies after the invasion so this should be interesting to see once the map is fully revealed.

Finally, Alex AKA BlackSix, is releasing a new free campaign for Battle of Normandy AND Battle of Bodenplatte owners called His Majesty’s Griffons. It doesn’t take much to guess that this is a Spitfire XIV campaign aimed at the Rhineland campaign and it sounds like a great idea to me. Coming in the next update!

So, clearly at lot going on at the offices of 1CGS with a big focus on Flying Circus and Battle of Normandy. Both are expected to be released by the middle of the year so we’re looking forward to the progress there. Stay tuned for more and check out the latest update here!
