New DCS: AH-64D training video

Matt Wagner is back on his channel again with another DCS: AH-64D training video. This is the second part of a two part segment on the TADS (Target Acquisition and Designation Sights). Let’s have a look!

Acronym bingo time

There should be no surprise by now that the AH-64D is an advanced helicopter with a lot of systems and even more acronyms to describe them. Matt Wagner goes over a lot of terms in this video and even makes reference that this is all “a lot!” Nonetheless, this is a useful tutorial for managing the target acquisition system for the AH-64.

    Oh my god, my brain hurts.

    Every time I see a new video I realize how I could never handle the Apache. But I am jealous of the flightsim hyper-nerds who will get it all down and fly that thing to the max.

      I suspect some of it won’t be that complicated and that you’ll be able to find a workflow that lets you do the essentials without knowing the whole thing.

      This is something I’m coming to accept with my DCS aircraft. I really can’t know it all and fly all of the aircraft that I do so I have to choose to do just some of it.

        I hear ya. I don’t know any module 100%. Probably the F-18 the most. But if I could fly the Apache with the night vision and use the gun well, that might be enough for my minimum fan factor.

        Sounds like an achievable goal after several training flights. I’m looking forward to the process… I just hope it comes out when not too much else is coming out for me to learn at the same time 🙂

      I think it will probably more easy to fly than the Huey.

        Yeah I’ve heard that it’s quite an easy helicopter to fly. I’m guessing that the F/A-18 analogue continues here with complex systems to manage but with ease of flying thanks to all of the control systems to make it that way.
