SimWorks Studios RV-14 coming to MSFS on Monday

A new aircraft has just come to Microsoft Flight Simulator. Sim Works Studios group has made a bit of a name for themselves with their Kodiak 100 release and now they have another aircraft coming out in the form of a Van’s Aircraft RV-14. GA aircraft fans, you’ll want to have a look at this one.

Fly the kit built RV-14

Van’s Aircraft have become well known over the last few decades as a go-to for people who want to kit build their own aircraft. I’ve seen more than a few Van’s aircraft flying over my head on a regular basis so it’s nice to see a highly detailed version coming to MSFS.

The RV-14 comes hot on the heels of SWS’s Kodiak 100 release and it looks to be sporting many of the same features. That includes a highly detailed model and texturing, a variety of liveries, detailed cockpit model with everything clickable right down to the working circuit breakers.

The RV-14 and RV-14a are both being offered. The first comes with a tail-dragger gear configuration (and slightly lower weight) while the 14a has a more typical tricycle gear setup. The aircraft’s light weight and efficient 200hp engine gives it a 1100nm range and a 180 knot top speed so it looks like a good cross country aircraft. The bubble canopy just reinforces that role! It’s also an aerobatic rated aircraft so you can have a little fun with this one too.

SimWorks Studios has announced the price at €14.99 on their website and €19.99 on other outlets. They haven’t published which storefronts are expected to carry it but their previous release went to SimMarket, Orbx Direct, and JustFlight to name just a few so it should be widely available. A Marketplace release is expected too.

More RV types coming

If you’re a fan of Van’s Aircraft you’ll be happy to note that SWS are planning to release several more aircraft from the company’s portfolio. The RV-10 is coming next with the RV-7 and RV-8 planned for late 2022 or early 2023 release!

Keep an eye on their Facebook page and then on the SWS website for those releases.
