A new developer diary is out from 1CGS and, as is customary, we have a ton of new screenshots and some new details on the next aircraft to come to IL-2: Battle of Normandy. Let’s have a look at the latest on the famous and legendary Mosquito!
Mosquito looking magnificent

Well over a dozen new screenshots have been released for the new Mosquito FB.VI (and XVIII) for Battle of Normandy. Compared to the last time we saw the Mossie, this is a much more complete aircraft with its cockpit fully textured and integrated into the sim. The co-pilot is even there in the cockpit suitably posing with his arm resting on the right side of the cockpit. Neat detail!
The word from Jason is that the aircraft is making good progress and that it’s nearly ready for testing which means that we’re probably not that far out. Among the features are the impressive array of firepower and loadout options. Jason posted in the forums with just a little more insight into what was available.
Several rocket load outs, 150 gas, remove exhaust covers, Mk.II gunsight, 57mm gun and a TON of weapon loadouts to choose from. I’d show a pic but the GUI portion was not ready, nor are the tactical codes ready.

In addition to what Jason mentioned, I’ve noted a couple of different rocket rail configurations, bombs on the wings and in the bay, and the 57mm (Mark XVIII variant). Also cool that we’re getting the 150 octane engine update which should give the Mosquito a nice boost at lower altitudes. Very good indeed!
Stay tuned for more Mosquito updates coming soon. In the meantime, check out the rest of the screenshots and the update on the IL-2 forums.
Did you see Jason’s comment about a ‘mystery aircraft’? It is a development of a current type (like the G-6 late I presume). He’s teasing people about what it might be 😆
