Another classic aircraft has arrived in the Microsoft Flight Simulator marketplace thanks to the now long running Local Legends series. The Savoia-Marchetti S.55 twin-engine flying boat features an interesting catamaran hull from a classic era in aviation.

Here’s the official description:

The S.55 is a twin-engine flying boat produced by Italian aviation manufacturer Savoia-Marchetti of Milan. One of the most distinctive and memorable aircraft in history, it features a catamaran hull design. Constructed primarily of wood, the hydroplane’s cockpit is located in the forward mid-section of the main wing and its hulls can be configured to carry a number of combinations of fuel, passengers, and cargo.

I love that Asobo have stuck to providing us with some unique aircraft from the annals of aviation history. It shows a true love of the subject of flying and I might have to add this one to my hangar.
