The next big update for DCS World is seemingly just around the corner as we are getting a close look at the update thanks to YouTuber Growling Sidewinder. Let’s have a look at what we’ve learned
MB-339, Persian Gulf updates, moving clouds and more
DCS World 2.8 might seem like a minor point update from 2.7 but it sounds like we’re in for quite a few smaller changes as well as the few big ones that we already knew about. Chief among them are the new moving weather which Growling Sidewinder gives us a really good look at both at the start of the video and in a neat little cinematic at the end. He mentions the new ice halos and rainbow effects too.
We’ve also learned that the Persian Gulf map is getting something of an update. Night lighting and terrain appear to be the focus here.
There’s also the big update to modern jet fighting which is looked at with a little more depth here. Endless circles and loops from the AI appear to be much less of an issue.
The lighting update also appears to be interesting as we a better balance between light and dark areas such as a bright exterior and a shadowed cockpit. That seems to be a nice update to how DCS looks overall.
Finally, IndiaFoxtEcho’s MB-339 is, according to Growling Sidewinder, coming in the same DCS World 2.8 update. One of my own readers mentioned in a recent conversation in the comments that the MB-339 had appeared on a list for Steam.
