First teased in the DCS World 2022 and Beyond Trailer and then later confirmed by Eagle Dynamics and Ugra Media, DCS World: Normandy 2 is well on its way to becoming a reality for the sim. Let’s have a look at the latest.
Updated information
Taking the old DCS Normandy map and stretching it to cover more territory going as far north as London and as far south as Paris, the new map offers a much wider range of territory to cover and Ugra Media have been busy building all of the assets that would be needed to make such a map come to life.
The latest screenshots show off Big Ben, the Maunsell Army Sea Forts, Battersea Power Station, as well as the Eiffel Tower and other Paris landmarks. The rest of the update also shows off a number of airfields. We’ve also been informed that the revised map will feature a total of 65 airfields.

In addition to the screenshots, Ugra Media have also released two new videos showing off a couple of different scenery elements. Big Ben’s clock face actually has realistically moving arms as shown in a cool timelapse while the London Dockyards get a brief viewing in the second video.
All of these updates and more from the Ugra Media team are available from this thread on the DCS World Ugra Media forums.
Not crazy about some of the shades of green, but the map looks great. Apparently Paris will have night lighting. I am on that like white on rice.

Some of the greens do seem a bit off. I’m hopeful it will get sorted out by release.

By the way Shamrock, are Ugra and Yugra two different ‘companies’? It’s been intriguing me for ages and I haven’t ever gotten round to asking anyone…

Yep. Same company, two different translations. I’ve seen both used by official sources on multiple occasions but recently they’ve been almost entirely written as Ugra. So… that’s what I’ve gone with.

Looks great. Just wish DCS would develop a career mode like IL2 BOX or some sort of dynamic campaign. I run through the single missions and linear campaign missions and quickly get bored and go back to IL2. Not interested in building missions and don’t engage in multiplayer very often. So unfortunately am loosing interest in DCS.
