Time flies!

After a year of public development, Blue Bird Simulations is marking the year since they announced their product. They’ve come out with a 12-minute video talking about their product and the status of it and what is planned.

Information such as release date was mentioned with the team targeting Q3 or Q4 with the feeling being that it will more likely be Q4. Also mentioned are an overhaul of the cockpit, the intention to sell the 757-200/300 as one package and a freighter version as an upgrade package later, as well as some talk about what they plan to offer in the initial release and what a mid-level simulation entails.

For Blue Bird, they intent to offer a complete FMS, VNAV, LNAV, SID, and STAR all built in. There will also be a custom APU, electrical, pneumatic, cabin altitude, IRS, and more. They are clear that it won’t be a full systems simulation at release but that they are going to continuously enhance it.

The video transitions from Q&A to an explanation of the VNAV system complete with diagrams and an example of system in action. For die-hard airliner pilots, these are the kinds of features that are going to check some boxes. We’ll see how this all goes by the time of release nearer the end of the year.

In the meantime, watch the video!
