IL-2 sale offers up to 78% off

The latest IL-2 Sturmovik series sale is now underway and they are advertising up to 78% off. The sale is underway on both Steam and on the official store. Here’s how you can save some money.

Discounts available

If you’re new to the series, now is a great time to add some items to your virtual hangar. All of the mainline titles up to Battle of Normandy (in release order) are on sale for $17.59 USD for Premium and $10.99 for Standard editions. Battle of Normandy, being a newer release, has a lesser discount dropping the price to $67.49 and $44.99 for Premium and Standard respectively. All of that applies to Flying Circus too.

Collector Planes are also on sale with the cheapest running at $4.39 while other bigger and more recently released ones like the C-47A are up at a higher $17.49 – still cheaper than the $24.99 USD base price.

Check it all out on Steam or the IL-2 store. Read the announcement for the ‘Victory Day in Europe sale’ here.

The Bf-109G-6AS is also 25% off as well. Which is an interesting surprise given it just released.

I’m hoping they do some of the final WWI collector planes in packs, if they aren’t likely to do a full FC4.

      I hadn’t noticed that. Interesting!

I’m thinking there will be a Vol 4 with the set that they announced. Maybe with a reduced price? We’ll have to see!

Will not buy anything from 1C, ED, or Ugra Media until they cease their operations in Russia. Do not promote indirect financial support of the aggressive war.

This has been a major issue for me as well. I’ve bought a map and an aircraft for DCS (ED), which is now headquartered in Switzerland and works closely with The Fighter Collection Ltd in the UK. Other than buying the IAR 80 last year, I’ve lost the desire to support any 1C products or even IL-2 BOX anymore, even if it is only for small sums of money (yet I will admit that I still bought the Sopwith Snipe, for better or worse).

I’m glad that people (everywhere in the world) put so much effort into building and maintaining aviation history, but I still feel like this is an elephant in the room for much of the flight simulation community – coming to terms with where our products come from and what kind of government they support is critical. I for one would love to see IL-2 development based out of anywhere else in Europe and distancing itself from Russia. Will this happen, I don’t know. Hell, at least a statement of non-support for the invasion would go a long way to changing that for me, not that you can do that now in Russia without being censored.

Am I trying to call out people who buy IL-2 products because they support the simulator? No. I’m just saying I personally don’t feel good about it anymore. Am I putting politics in simulators? Yes, because to a degree everything is politics, and for me, this issue is very clear – Slava Ukraini!

(I hope this isn’t out of line for your blog Shamrockonefive, but this is kind of hard to avoid for those of us who have a role to play in containing and/or fighting this war)

It’s true and it’s been a difficult path to walk these days.

Consciously and perhaps unconsciously I’ve moved a little bit away from the combat sim side and opened up a bit more elsewhere in part because of these issues.

Also I think you’ve approached this wholly constructively so I always appreciate thoughtful comments. Even on tough topics connected to our hobby.

With the blog I’ve been focused very much on the day to day news. That was during the pandemic and during the Russian invasion. Personally it’s clear for me as well and I continue to donate through the Canadian Red Cross in support of the Ukrainian people.

I hope for better days ahead.

ED has HQ in Switzerland but most of their team is still located in Russia which means they contribute to local VAT that goes to the Russian federal budget which finance the war. Urga Media who developes maps for DCS is based in Siberia and also pays corporate taxes which partially goes to the Russian federal budget. That might be a small tiny thing compared to Russia’s revenue from gas and oil but it’s big enough for me. It’s all sad but much more terrible things are happening. More over sane IT companies pulled their entire teams from Russia and operate from different places now. Some even found cheaper options than Russia. Neither of ED, 1C or Ugra did it. Just a few team members relocated or left them for a work in other companies outside Russia.

Thanks for your comment Alex. That’s more than fair and quite a few people feel that way. It’s been a challenge for me as well.

I agree. I’ve enjoyed il2 but I can’t support them. What is being done is just too terrible. And to their own people too.

Not trying to lump Team Fusion into this either – fantastic work!

If you needed any more evidence that the new management is absolutely tone-deaf, calling a sale ‘Victory in Europe Day’ is just jaw-dropping.

Like many here, I’m not buying squat from them.

But, as always, thanks to Shamrock for the update and his AS review.

I thought the same when I saw the title of the sale – absolutely tone-deaf to Ruscism it seems. And Alex, thanks for the extra information; it is important to know where your products are coming from as we have discussed here. Hopefully, this enables people to make their own purchasing decisions with a bit more information.

It was not the best choice of a sale name.

I’m interested to know if the source of the various flight sim projects are common knowledge the way I thought they were or if some information on them would be valuable to share.

Just saw you mentioned Red Cross. Good for you, dude. I helped with kids clothes and similar the other week. Here in Trieste we are not a million miles from the people and there are plenty refugees.

But, back to cheerful subjects and flying 👍

Now just hold on there folks
IL2 is a wonderful sim that I’ve enjoyed for years since it’s release
To pan a company just because on the so called “enemy “ side is I think ridiculous. Boys it’s just a game and a fantastic one at that and I’ve noticed over past pages about il2 on Stormbirds and all the wingging and wining I don’t get it get a life fife it’s just a game.
To condenm a game because it’s on the “wrong”: side of a war is extremely sad to hear. It’s just plane wrong ….NATO broke agreements with Russia set in the 90s and expanded eastward. Who gains from this war anyway surely stakeholders in the arms industry.. Jesus …..Flying circus which I adore in Vr is bringing out volume 3 and no doubt 4 …new planes are released they are obviously working on a new engine and il3 (lol) just relax and enjoy what we have or move on and enjoy your way overpriced dcs or whatever. IL2 more than often give amazing sales on their products …I don’t get it. So much hate and put down for such a wonderful game
Just enjoy the hobby and I hope some of you will continue to enjoy playing IL2 whatever it’s shortfall … i thinks it’s brill …..oh Yeh

It’s not about hating companies or their team members, it’s just about how you spent your money. I don’t want my money to sponsor the Russian state directly or indirectly and act like nothing happened. You are fine with it, it’s your choice.

But Alex with the same sentiment should we really buy games from USA? when they destroyed so many country’s such as Iran Syrian Libya Afghanistan Vietnam and even Laos they were not even at war with… not to mention USAs involvement with murderous regimes in central and South America. I really think it is counterproductive to politicise the purchase of games if we adopting a partisan stance. Now I shall climb back into my cockpit of my Hurricane and do hope we will see the Russian front in ww1 and some Russian 1ww kites …..I guess unlikely
