DCS World third party developer RAZBAM have been focused on their DCS: F-15E Strike Eagle launch for quite some time and that has, understandably, meant that their other projects haven’t been given much limelight. With that project launched and development continuing we’re now seeing a few new images of another anticipated project: the MiG-23!

Work in progress images

We’ve known about the DCS: MiG-23MLA project for quite some time now and the project had experienced some delays. This is primarily the work of one developer and real world considerations over the last couple of years had slowed things down although the last we heard was that development was back on. These latest images seem to confirm that.

The six released images are primarily focused on the cockpit showing off a considerable amount of detail all around. One image of the exterior model is the most complete that we’ve seen the MiG-23MLA to date.

I’ve made all sorts of guesses over the years at when we might see this come together and they have all been wrong. I think it’s safe to say that this project is still slowly coming together and is still quite a long way off but it is great to see the latest progress all the same.

  1. This would be fun in prepar3d but in air quake it’s going to suck. Only the East Germans figured out how to use them right, and it required close work with ground based radar (and considerimg that was Soviet doctrine to begin with says a lot) to make BVR work even slightly. Forget dog fighting.

    1. There’s an old eastern-bloc joke – “The cheapest way to get a MiG-23 is to buy a plot of land and wait for one to crash on it.”

DCS doesn’t have to be air quake so I can see this being part of an interesting mix of aircraft. Some folks usually find a way to make it work.

      1. I guess it could be a reasonable adversary for the Phantom when that comes?

There are more than a few dudes who enjoy swatting Vipers and Hornets and Tomcats with these “sucky” older Russian aircraft…
IoW, it’s way more the Indian than the Arrow.

Apparently this is also one of the “most correct” adversaries for the Tomcat B, whereas the Mig-21bis is more temporally aligned with Tomcat A

Anyhow, it’ll be the most modern RedFor full fidelity we have, so I say, Bring It! 🙂
