While iniBuilds and Orbx are often competing for our flight sim scenery dollars these days, sometimes a pair of releases ends up being potentially complementary and the release of LPHR Horta Airport on the Orbx Store by MM Simulations and iniBuilds own LPPD Ponda Delgada feel like one of those moments.

Explore the Azores with two new airports

Recently I’ve become something of a sucker for high quality airport scenery. It makes flying into destinations extra special with custom, hand crafted, scenery by some spectacular scenery artists. They help elevate basic airport layouts provided by Microsoft Flight Simulator and breath life into them with all kinds of local touches.

Two airports close together means flying hops between airports can also be quick, fun, and packed with nicely detailed experiences on both ends of the hop. Enter LPPD Ponda Delgada by iniBuilds! This airport models the Ponda Delgada airport on the island of São Miguel Island. Ponda Delgada is the capital of Portugal’s Azores islands and a travel destination from Europe and North America.

Then we have MM Simulations which have released, through the Orbx Store, LPHR Horta Airport. Servicing Horta and located on the island of Faial, this seems like a great local hop for flights and a destination in its own right.

Both airports appear to offer high quality scenery and custom visuals for these two airports.

Check out LPHR Horta Airport on Orbx here for $24.99 AUD and LPPD Ponta Delgada on the iniBuilds store for £12.99 GBP. With a little currency conversion that makes these two scenery options roughly the same price. Buy them now or wait them out for a good sale down the road!

  1. Inaccurate title! Orbx didn’t release this! It’s MM Simulations! Give credit where it’s due. You eventually do later in the article but using Orbx in the title for SEO.

This is an interesting comment so I’ll reply to it for what it’s worth.

In this instance the headline refers to two publishers releasing complementary content at the same time. MM Simulations created the content. Orbx released it via their store. You’re right that the SEO on this is better but sometimes that also means more straightforward communication and most people will recognize large storefronts over individual publishers.

MM Simulations is credited as you point out and they deserve any kudos they receive for the product. At the same time, they are also, ostensibly, being published on the Orbx store to make money from their hard efforts. So if clearer communication, better SEO, and connecting more people to the kinds of content they want all coalesce together here I think the headline is serving its purpose and is infact accurate for purpose.

      Thanks for the comment.
