A new flying boat for Microsoft Flight Simulator has arrived with Local Legend 12 and the Dornier Do X. This huge aircraft is now available for purchase in the Marketplace. Let’s check it out!

Flying the boat

Powered by twelve 610-horsepower V-12 piston engines, the Do X is one of only a few airplanes in history to be powered by more than ten engines. It has a hull with three internal decks, measures 40 meters long, and has sponsons on the lower hull that help stabilize the aircraft in the water. It’s an incredible airplane and I have to applaud Microsoft for choosing something like this for their next local legend.

According to the announcement, the aircraft comes with three liveries (Historic, Aviators Club and Xbox Club) and it can be purchased today for $14.99 USD. Watch the trailer below.

It feels appropriate as a Lego airplane. Part boat, part plane!

    2. Interestingly enough, when I first read about the Dornier X in a book back when I was in preschool, I made a very rough depiction of it with building blocks.
