Avro’s Lancaster bomber is one of those iconic aircraft of WWII that captures the imagination and transports you back in time to a very different era in aviation. That’s the feeling I get when looking at the latest Aeroplane Heaven screenshots of their Lancaster for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Let’s have a look at the latest!
Brief Lancaster update
Aeroplane Heaven provided an update a couple of days ago on their Facebook page showing off the latest work on their Lancaster bomber for Microsoft Flight Simulator. This update shows off the aircraft from both inside and out with all of the stations appearing to be modeled and populated with appropriate looking crew members.
Here’s what they had to say about the project:
As modeling and textures near completion, we’ve been testing crew in their positions. It’s not until you get the human component into an aeroplane like the Lancaster that you realise just how cramped they could get. I remember crawling over G-George at the Australian War Memorial Museum and how difficult that was to get around inside. Trying to do that at night whilst dodging flak and bullets – I just can’t imagine. I was told by my guide that it helped if you were 19 and totally fearless. These days I am neither. Enjoy the pics, she’s getting closer.
Aeroplane Heaven have also changed the hero banner on their page to show off the Lancaster with the words “Fly the legend in 2023” so it appears that this project is on track for release prior to the end of the year.
Over 25 new screenshots were released but these 9 should offer up a good sense of what they have been working on with this project. Visit the Aeroplane Heaven Facebook page for more!
