There’s a small delay to Sim Update 13 to later this month meanwhile a sale for the Reno Air Racing add-on offers some deep discounts on that gameplay package. Its also well past time to have a look at the road ahead with the latest developer roadmap as our guide. Lets fly!
Sales and air racing Reno style
Microsoft is celebrating the start of National Championship Air Races in Reno, Nevada with a booth on site featuring products from Thrustmaster, Next Level Racing and MSI Gaming. For the rest of us there’s a sale on with up to 50% off on the Reno Air Racing pack. The sale is on for 4 days and it started on the 13rd… so not a lot of time. Check out the details here.
That’s not the only sale on as Microsoft is also offering 35% off on Standard, Deluxe and Premium Deluxe editions of Microsoft Flight Simulator on the Steam Store in celebration of that platform’s 20th birthday. They grow up so fast!
Sim Update 13 delayed, progress
Microsoft and public testers are currently working on Microsoft Flight Simulator’s 13th Sim Update. The most recent major test build update came on September 11 and testers and the developers have been reportedly working on ironing out stability issues.
Sim Update 13 has moved to September 28th for the launch. Microsoft and Asobo feel that they need more time to address testers feedback over the course of the beta test.
Speaking of Sim Update 13’s public launch: we have a new Development Roadmap today, and readers might notice that the Sim Update 13 release has moved to September 28th. This is to allow the team more time to investigate and address some of the feedback that testers have provided over the course of the beta.
The day prior to the launch of the update will also be when the team does the next Developer Livestream on Twitch and YouTube. Jorg, Seb, Martial and Jayne will be on hand to discuss progress and take questions from the community.
A look ahead

Next week we’re expecting to see the launch of the next Local Legend. Local Legend 13 is, so far as I know, still a mystery and the official roadmap lists it as TBA. The launch and launch trailer are expected so stay tuned for that!
The week after we have the aforementioned developer live stream on the 27th of September followed by the planned launch of Sim Update 13 on the 28th.
Then in late October we have a slate of new products coming with Workd Update 15, Local Legend 14. These are, once again, unrevealed at this point so we’ll have to see what the team have been cooking up. No doubt we’ll see some teasers during the Q&A on the 27th.
That’s when the roadmap ends for now and we’ll be looking at a whole new roadmap going into the end of the year and next year. Although Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is on the horizon, I wouldn’t expect a slowdown in planned content at this point as it sounds like Microsoft plan to continue to roll content out for the whole of the platform. I’ll let you know if assumption changes!
