Heatblur and IndiaFoxtEcho launch F-14 for MSFS

One of DCS World’s best modules has made the leap from that sim over to Microsoft Flight Simulator thanks to efforts from both Heatblur and IndiaFoxtEcho.

Sporting both F-14A and B models with detailed simulations of the respective models Pratt & Whitney TF-30 and General Electric F110 engines, Heatblur and IndiaFoxtEcho have also incorporated a version of Jester AI, an essential part of the DCS World experience, with a lightweight version that they report will help you operate the jet.

DCS World fans will already know that Heatblur are among the best in the business producing aircraft at an extremely high quality level. The F-14 moving over to Microsoft Flight Simulator opens the door to a whole new market. Though DCS fans might find flying a military jet in a civilian sim unusual, fighter jets are popular in the sim and with such a large audience it makes a lot of business sense for the developer to bring such an impressive project over. IndiaFoxtEcho’s expertise on the platform also no doubt proved invaluable.

    There was a good conversation about the MSFS F-14 on the DCS forums but it got nuked. “Thou shalt not…”

    Looking forward to a review by “Into The Blue Simulations” on YouTube, I think he has the best and most authoritative MSFS reviews.

      I am curious how he receives it as well.

      I’m slowly cooling down from rare-uninstallibg MSFS, and if this is good enough, it may be worth dealing with the grief of reinstalling it again. Though I’ll probably wait for the rebuild.

      Probably going to do one sometime late next year after the Windows 12 and Zen 5 stuff comes out. Varjo’s got a new top end headset that looks very nice.

    While I’m sure the FM and systems/features are good for this one since it’s a port over (more or less) I admit to disliking the Jester system. Kept me from buying DCS version and will probably be the same for the MSFS – unless of course it’s drastically improved that is. From what I’ve seen on reviews so far though, it’s the same which, sorry but not for me.

    Honestly hoping they can come up with something more efficient and maybe less chatter-boxy for the F-4 since that looks seriously good…

    Into the Blue Sims says it’s the best mil jet in the sim, AND says that’s a pretty low bar 😉

    He makes note that the flight models in MSFS are generally sub-par, and especially for the atypical, highly dynamic flight models of variable geometry lifting bodies like Tomcat.

    He also pointed out that the carrier landing was in a crosswind due to MSFS and carriers…sigh.

    But, he says it’s an enjoyable ride in MSFS nonetheless, and the visual modeling is BETTER than in DCS, etc.

    I’ll be getting it as soon as HeatBlur gets back to me with my discount code. 🙂

      The paid package from Miltech Simulations (Supercarrier Pro) reportedly offers moving carriers and the ability to orient the carrier to sail into the wind. Normal price is $15, was on sale for black Friday at $10. I am given to understand TACAN and ICLS don’t function for moving carriers at this time though. So strictly visual for moving ships. Nevertheless, looks like a solid add on with a roadmap for the future.
