Synaptic shows off state of A22X avionics

We’ve got a new video from developer Synaptic on their Airbus A220 project for Microsoft Flight Simulator. This latest video shows off avionics work on the project and details some of the interesting and cool features that the A220’s avionics can do.

Development underway

Synaptic started as a freeware developer building an Airbus A220, however, early this year they announced that they were moving over to a payware model and that they were partnering with iniBuilds to help speed the process along.

The video shown off today is a showcase of the avionics only with the displays all working in a development environment that the team is calling Synaptic ACE. It apparently has the same connections that would ultimately be needed within the simulation but runs independently which they say helps speed the development process along.

The rest of the demo is spent looking at the actual avionics. Features such as the interactive checklist system, CPDLC (a datalink system), and flight planning are all shown off. Intruigingly, this avionics system enables the pilots to put their cursor over a waypoint or any point in space and add it to their flight plan. Graphically!

Synaptic also report that they are planning a follow-on development update that is more far reaching and covering all aspects of the aircraft, development cycles, and release planning. That update is planned for the middle part of 2024.

Check out the video for the demo!

Very interesting avionics and very exciting to see this on fullscreen. I want to put two 23″ screens side by side just for avionics soon (mainly PSX and A320 with Air Manager), the A220 looks to be a perfect fit too.
