Flight sim aircraft developer TFDi Design are now nearing completion of their long awaited MD-11 for Microsoft Flight Simulator and P3D. A May 2024 Development Update gives us a new look at the project and shows off how the systems are progressing.
Feature complete, but not ready
The developers have been maintaining a status page on their website for quite some time now with the status recently ticking over from in progress to feature complete. Right now it says that the delivery process is now at 50%.
While the aircraft’s systems may be complete there are bugs and issues to sort out and so the video they released show off parts of the start-up process, warts and all (a few things go wrong during the video), with systems generally working and the EFB looking complete. It is nice to see the process behind the scenes with things working most of the time, a few things not working, and overall progress on display.
Still, it does look like the company are closing in on a release. Pre-orders are available now and the price they have set is a fairly steep $80 USD. Or you can get an ala carte package post launch with either the passenger or freight version for $70 USD and then the version you didn’t buy as an update for $10.
The aircraft looks set to bring authentic systems, detailed exterior and interior, cargo, failures, two engine options, custom FMS and more.
Supported sims include Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS 2020), Lockheed Martin Prepar3D versions v6, v5 and v4.
Watch the video above for the update and visit their product page on their website for more overall info.
