The last big DCS World update brought in a quite a few new features and fixes but it also created a few new headaches and today’s hotfix looks set to solve at least some of those. The fix just went live a little while ago so you’ll want to get your DCS World launcher up and running to get the update.

Hotfixed!

The latest version, DCS 2.9.6.58056, is now out and its a hotfix aimed at some of the issues that have cropped up since the last significant update. The changelog is considerably shorter as a result but that’s ok so long as some key crashes and other issues have been sorted out.

Items such as “Disabling F11 Free camera in DCS options leads to black screen for tactical commander slot in Multiplayer,” “W2 aircraft AI will not engage in combat in some cases,” “Flaming Cliffs 3. User account authorization issues,” and “Crash during rearming F-16C in some cases” are all listed as fixed along with several others.

Hopefully the update sorts out problems that many have been experiencing. Read the full change log here!

  2. quadviews fix – great, now I can go back to my Pimax

And…. without terrain updates, I don’t need to worry about not having enough disk space (I really need to move to at least a 2Tb SSD)

    1. We should have a possibility to install DCS modules on different partitions.

That’d be really nice and maybe something we need to encourage ED to look into. My DCS install is now north of 600GB and it already has its own 1TB SSD.

It might be possible to do right now with a sym link. NTFS allows for this and in fact I’ve got such a link setup for my MSFS community folder.

      2. Symlinks are working fine on my creaky old machine for moving terrain files off of my 1TB DCS SSD which didn’t have enough space to install the Afghanistan map. It’s not an ideal fix, as it’s a little fiddly (completely transparent, however) and requires a tiny bit of file system knowledge. Not very much, I hasten to add.

It’s a bit fiddly but I’ve done it too… just not with DCS World. Can be very helpful!
