The folks at Orbx have put together a short video trailer which provides a nice summary of the recent updates to the DCS: Kola map. Let’s have a look at it!

New locations on the map

While DCS: Kola is far from finished, it has picked up some new features recently with winter textures and several new airbases and assets added to the mix. Those are ESPA Kallax, ENKR Kirkenes, and ESPE Vidsel. Those come along with a 12 GB reduction in map storage requirements, ENBO Bodo airfield ILS fixes and revised tree placement, and more.

Check out the short video to see what’s changed!

  1. Very happy to see ORBX keeping this map in top shape. Really hope they give us at least one airfield, maybe something way off on the side, where they go whole hog on the textures and push the limits of the engine right to the edge. That would be fun to see.

  2. Well it’s good that they do a short video highlighting the new areas and actually having text to help you id it – too often these update screen shots and videos just have the landscape and you have no idea where it is – so kudos to Orbx (and let’s face it – would expect this level from them)

  3. This map comes alive with the new winter textures, it makes me want to go back up that way for another holiday. I spent a few weeks up near Tromso about a decade ago and it was a highlight of my life. I would like to see Svalbard too, but anywhere above the Artic Circle in Spring. When there is some light but still snow everywhere. Magical. I grew up in the tropics so places like this seem like fairy tales.
