Orbx have, from time to time, built aircraft for Microsoft Flight Simulator and the Grumman TBF Avenger has been confirmed as their next project. Let’s have a look at what they have planned!
The big sturdy Avenger

Seeing its combat debut at Midway, the TBF and TBM Avenger would go on to serve throughout most of WWII fighting its way from carrier decks and land bases all across the Pacific and in a more limited way in the Atlantic and beyond. The large single engine aircraft could carry torpedoes, bombs, rockets, and was defended by machine guns in a dorsal and ventral positions. It’s quite an impressive airplane!
Developed by Orbx together with Paul Bennet, a National Advanced Aerobatic Champion and an aviation enthusiast that shows aircraft as part of his Paul Bennet Airshows company, the team have apparently looked over the company’s Avenger to help develop the project.
Orbx are advertising detailed texture work and modeling with WWII era gauges, switches and levers. Animated control surfaces and folding wing mechanism, realistic wear and tear, corrosion, scratches and dirt buildup, as well as a detailed flight model and authentic audio recordings from a real world TBF Avenger.
No timeline has been provided but it looks and sounds like Orbx are plotting to release this soon. Check out the product page for more!
